Bio

Charles BurdickCharles Burdick is a composer and saxophonist/bassoonist living in Minneapolis, Minnesota. His works combine energy, rhythm, and contrast with jazz and minimalist influences.

As an active promoter of the arts in the community, Mr. Burdick organized a concert series of local composers with the Chicago Park District and the Chicago Composers Forum. On a grant from the American Composers Forum, Mr. Burdick coached Chicago inner city teens to explore their ideas on violence prevention through musical expression and composition. He has served on the Special Grants Committee for the Schubert Club and currently serves on the planning board for VocalPoint Chorus.

His work has been published by Silver Burdett Ginn and Prestissimo Press. His arrangement of the Star Spangled Banner has been performed at a televised sporting event. Recent commissions include Drop by Drop for the 100-voice  Global Harmony Community Chorus.

Mr. Burdick studied composition with Carleton Macy; saxophone with Brian Grivna and Scott Johnson; and bassoon with Dr. William Jones and Chuck Ullery. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in music from Macalester College and an MBA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
